Here’s How You Can Get Chris Evans’ Sweater From 'Knives Out'
Rian Johnson’s Knives Out has one of the starriest casts of 2019, with everyone from Daniel Craig, to Chris Evans, to Jamie Lee Curtis and Toni Collette all appearing in the murder-mystery dark comedy. But even in the face of this dazzling array of Hollywood royalty, one minor player was able to steal scene after scene—Chris Evans’ cable-knit sweater.
It’s cozy, it’s classic, it’s on one of America’s favorite Chrises: The sweater’s appeal is pretty easy to understand. In the film, Evans plays the spoiled son of a wealthy and dysfunctional family, and his cream-colored cable-knit sweater exemplifies his preppy style. But cable layers aren’t just for wealthy playboys embroiled in a familial whodunnit (a tiny market segment, at best); they’re also perfect for anyone who wants to keep warm in a timeless winter style.
Sadly, we don’t know the exact sweater Evans wore for the film. Costume designer Jenny Eagan told The Hollywood Reporter that she doesn’t know what brand the piece was from, but that it was chosen to signal his wealth and privilege. Cable knitting is yarn-intensive—which can mean a higher price tag—and it's light in color because "wealthy people can always wear white—nothing ever gets dirty." She also added some rips to the piece, with wear and tear at the neck and cuffs giving it a truly worn-in look.
Luckily, cream-colored cables are available at a range of different brands and price points, which mans that there’s one for pretty much any guy.
Cream cable-knit sweaters make for classic winter-wear.
