Chris Hardwick travels 'Back to the Future' to visit filming locations
On Jay Leno’s Garage, Jay Leno visited Back to the Future superfan Chris Hardwick. And he showed up not in just any old car but in a DeLorean time machine replica valued at $750,000.
Hardwick was waiting for Leno at the Gamble House in Pasadena, Calif. — the same house the character Doc lived in — and freaked out when Leno pulled up in the movie-car double.
Hardwick said he likes the film for its wisdom. “It teaches you very important lessons, like don’t have sex with your mom, no matter how drunk she tries to get you,” he said. “And then also always meet an old man in a mall parking lot at 1 a.m.”
Hardwick got a tour of the car and even drove it, but he was most excited to do one thing. “I would kind of love to see if this baby can get up to 88.”
Happy to oblige, Leno took Hardwick to the best place to drive a time machine 88 miles an hour — the famous Twin Pines Mall. While there, Hardwick was able to let loose and drive Back to the Future.
Jay Leno’s Garage airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on CNBC.
