Well, that’s a different angle. On Wednesday night, Chris Meloni joined the ranks of many fellow celebs, taking to Twitter to share a political message — alongside a shirtless pic. In the snap, the Law & Order: SVU alum strikes a pose in front of a black backdrop while an artfully placed spotlight highlights his chest and abs (and forehead, though that’s definitely not the most striking aspect of the image). “The revolution is upon us. If u can’t see the con then u r willfully blind. #Resist. good nite,” he wrote.

If he did lead a revolution, we imagine he’d have quite the star-studded army, which would probably include Rosie O’Donnell.

Not surprisingly, it didn’t take long for people to take notice of the seemingly odd political posting and begin sharing their thoughts — most of which were about Meloni’s physique and not about the new president. One user asked, “@Chris_Meloni Well said. And can u be any hotter? Still? Age ain’t got nuthin on u, kudos!” Meloni responded that if he were any hotter he’d “have a fever.” Oh, snap!

When another inquired as to whether Meloni might share more shirtless selfies, he stated that he only had “pantless” ones “hanging around.”

In a weird twist, Dax Shepard got in on the action, asking Meloni for some fitness advice — as if we needed another reason to love Dax Shepard. Meloni wrote back explaining that his highly chiseled chest was the result of a healthy lifestyle and key to success in his efforts against President Trump. (Well, that’s not exactly what he said, but it was implied.) “Thx for asking,” Meloni began. “‘Traps’ r essential to any good revolution. Try dead lifts, good clean living and amino acids. #GetRevolting!”

When another user asked Meloni how much he benched, the star added a political slant to his answer. “15,000 lbs,” he wrote with the hashtag #alternativeFacts. (In case you’ve been living under a rock, there has been a lot of chatter about “facts” that Trump believes or doesn’t.)

The True Blood actor wasn’t as kind to posts that were less flattering, however. When one user said Meloni’s selfie was more “grotesque” than Geraldo Rivera’s, Meloni asked, “Do u troll for a lotta guy selfies?” and added the hashtag #MayWannaLookAtThat.

And while this all seemed kind of bizarre, on Thursday morning, the 55-year-old star explained his intentions pretty clearly. Asked if he had “burned his shirt,” he replied, “I was going for a visual, ‘the emperor has no clothes but does have really dramatic lighting’ thing.” He added, “I think it worked.”

President Trump has yet to tweet back, but it might be only a matter of time.
