Chris Stapleton is 'Starting Over': Country star announces new single and album
Chris Stapleton cuts a fresh path in "Starting Over," the title track and lead single off a newly-announced album, due out later this year.
With "Starting Over," the Kentucky native and five-time Grammy Award-winning "Tennessee Whiskey" singer unveiled Thursday the first peek into his next musical chapter – a 14-song "Starting Over" LP.
A follow-up to Stapleton's two-part "From A Room," the new album drops Nov. 13.
Sharing a sonic kinship to the time-tested reflection heard on Tom Petty's Wildflowers," Stapleton and his wife Morgane Stapleton sing in harmony, "Honey, for once in our life let's take our chances and roll the dice/ I can be your lucky penny/ You can be my four leaf clover ... starting over."
Stapleton tracked the album at his self-described "second home," with ace Americana producer Dave Cobb at RCA Studio A in Nashville. He also tracked at Compass Sound Studio and Muscle Shoals Sound in Alabama.

The album features 11 Stapleton co-writes, including the title track, which he penned alongside Mike Henderson. Stapleton cut three covers for the release: John Fogerty’s “Joy Of My Life” and Guy Clark’s “Worry B Gone” and “Old Friends.”
Playing with longtime band members J.T. Cure and Derek Mixon, Stapleton enlisted Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell – founding members of Petty's band The Heartbreakers – for guest spots on Hammond B3 organ and electric guitar, respectively. Noted pedal steel guitarist Paul Franklin contributed, as well.
