Chris Stapleton wins ACM Awards Album of the Year, but couldn't be there for two good reasons
Today might be a good day for country star Chris Stapleton to play the lottery.
The multi-Grammy-winning artist was up for yet another prestigious award to add to his collection, namely Album of the Year at Sunday night’s 2018 Academy of Country Music Awards, for his release From a Room, Vol. 1.
He did win that award. As Stapleton fans well knew, however, the singer wouldn’t be able to attend the show because his wife, Morgane, was expecting twins any day. So it was no surprise when host Reba McEntire announced that he couldn’t accept the award in person.
But she sent the crowd into a frenzy when she explained that Stapleton’s twin boys had decided to come “a little early.”
To make things even more unbelievable, the twins were born on Stapleton’s birthday — April 15 happened to be his 40th!
Next time you think you had a good day, compare it to Chris Stapleton having twins and the #ACMawards Album of the Year win on his birthday.

Stapleton was also up for Male Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year at the ACM Awards, which were aired live on CBS from Las Vegas. The show came six months after a gunman killed 58 people at a country music festival there in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
