Chrissy Metz on how 'This Is Us' changed her life (but Justin Hartley supplied one answer)
PASADENA, Calif. – How has "This Is Us" changed your life?
As Chrissy Metz contemplated a thoughtful answer to the question at the Television Critics Association Saturday, castmate Justin Hartley beat her to the punch.
"Chrissy got a Tesla!" Hartley chirped in brotherly snark, which is only fitting because the pair play siblings Kate and Kevin Pearson on NBC's critical and ratings hit (Tuesday, 9 EST/PST).
As the critics laughed and Hartley's truthful comment about the money that comes with TV success sunk in, Chris Sullivan, who plays Kate's husband, Toby, chimed in: "I got a Subaru."
When the car talk ended, Metz said "This Is Us," in which Kate pursued a singing career, got married, had a miscarriage and gave birth over three-plus seasons, has created the opportunity "to portray a character that is so important not only to a television network but to life. (We've) never seen a plus-sized woman and her highs and lows and in between, fertility issues and trying to conceive."

She continued: "I never thought I would ever have the ability to do (such a role) and I get to do this in a raw, scary, sometimes what-am-I-doing, can-I-do-this way. It's changed me as a person, as a daughter, as a friend."
And, apparently, as a car owner, too.
