Chrissy Teigen gets candid about body confidence, getting a boob job at 20
Chrissy Teigen is Glamour U.K.’s. Spring/Summer cover star and as usual, she doesn't hold back. In the revealing interview, the 34-year-old model opened up about everything from body image to her mental health. Teigen said she has struggled with body confidence over the years.
"I used to weigh myself every morning, afternoon and night. I knew what the scales would say after each meal," she shared. "I did that for eight years and had this one weight I wanted to be at. That changed with [daughter] Luna, and really changed with [22-month-old son] Miles, where it took me a year to be comfortable with my new normal number."
Teigen also admitted she had a boob job 14 years ago.
"Yeah, I did my boobs when I was about 20 years old," she revealed for the first time. "It was more for a swimsuit thing. I thought, if I’m going to be posing, laid on my back, I want them to be perky! But then you have babies and they fill up with milk and deflate and now I am screwed."
Asked whether she had the surgery to increase her self-esteem, she replied, "Honestly, I kept them the same cup size. I just filled them out, so they are rounder and firmer."
"I had a quarter 'teardrop' cup in the bottom and filled out the breast line. But I want them out now," she continued. "If I could do one thing, it would be to have a lift. I think you’re supposed to replace [implants] every 10 years. But when you have kids you think about [the risks] of surgery and I think, 'This is not the way I want to die, in boob surgery.'"
Teigen shares two children with husband John Legend: daughter Luna, 3, and son Miles, who turns 2 in May. She has been open about struggling with postpartum depression. The Chrissy's Court judge also deals with anxiety and said "the last month has been really tough."
"I’ll tell John, 'Deep down, I know I am happy.' But I think anyone with anxiety knows it’s physically painful to think about doing things," she explained. "Sometimes reaching for your medication is like picking up a 60kg dumbbell that I don’t feel like picking up and I don’t know why."
The television personality concluded, "But I also know I haven’t been good to myself. I wasn’t managing my pills. I was just taking them when I remembered. My chemistry got thrown off. So, I’m building myself back up. There are times I go to bed at 6.30 p.m. and wake up at 6 a.m. and lie in bed just thinking — it’s like you can’t get enough sleep."
Teigen's Glamour U.K. issue hits newsstands March 5.
