Chrissy Teigen on pressure at award shows: 'They're always waiting for me to do something now'

Chrissy Teigen may seem like she has all the confidence in the world, but she recently admitted that she still gets nervous when there's too much attention on her -- especially at award shows.

Coming off of her appearance at the Emmys alongside husband John Legend, Teigen appeared on BUILD Series on Wednesday, where she explained what's going through her mind at such big, star-studded events.

"No," she said of whether or not she still has fun at the Emmys. "I don't know. It's fun, [but] I have such anxiety and I just get so ... I don't know. The carpet part of it is kind of uncomfortable. I think I try to be too cool around people, and I pretend that I don't care, and I really do care."

"I will say, [though,] it's so much fun [and] it's an honor to even just get invited or asked to present or anything, but when you get home, there's nothing like it. Just, like, breathing and not having to worry about a face you made or something, for example."

Teigen was referring to yet another viral reaction shot of hers that went viral during hosts' Colin Jost and Michael Che's opening address. When they praised actress Laurie Metcalf for nabbing an acting nomination for her performance on "Roseanne," despite the one-season revival's controversial cancellation, Che remarked that "that's like nominating a cop for a BET Award -- it just doesn't happen."

The camera then cut to Teigen and Legend in the audience, which prompted the "Cravings: Hungry For More" author to shrink away from the camera in discomfort.

At this point, Teigen admitted, it seems as though the producers of award shows are expecting her to do something from the audience that will go viral.

"They're always waiting for me to do something now," she said. "John is so good, though, at just being so perfect. He looks so beautiful in every frame. It kills me."

Chrissy Teigen's new cookbook, "Cravings: Hungry For More," is out now. Order it here.
