Chrissy Teigen says her 'heart stopped' after Trump called her a 'filthy mouthed wife'
Model Chrissy Teigen sat down with Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday and revealed to the top talker that her “heart stopped” when she found out that President Donald Trump had called her out in a recent tweet.
Trump lashed out at Teigen and her husband, musician John Legend, in a series of tweets after he felt the two were leaving him out of their praise of a recent criminal justice reform bill; Trump says he got it passed into law, but had no support in the lead up.
Trump called Legend “boring,” and referred to Teigen as “his filthy mouthed wife.” Teigen responded to Trump’s tweets with one of her own, calling the President a “p***y a** b****.”
“It was a weird feeling. I was really angry. I think my eyes filled up with water just at the shock of it, like I can’t believe this is happening,” said Teigen of the moment she found out what Trump had tweeted about her.
The star found some humor in how Trump referred to her and her husband, telling DeGeneres, “Those two things are true. John is boring and I do have a filthy mouth.” She added, “He just goes on these rants, usually very late at night for him, and you just wait for him to say something, but you don’t think it’s going to be you.”
Viewers on Twitter were split over Teigen’s response to Trump, with many applauding her for her blunt post. One viewer tweeted: “Gurrrl he's scared AF of you I adore you btw.”
Another asked, “What's it like knowing the president of a whole country is terrified of you? Must be glorious.”
“I like @chrissyteigen because she talks like me! #TeigenLegend2020,” wrote another.
But not everyone was happy with Tiegen’s response. “Very sad, this is what our youth looks up to. Foul mouthed celebrities, smh!” posted one viewer.
Another commented, “Looks like he was right about the filthy mouth part.”
“You call out our President while taking to Twitter with your filthy disgusting mouth — and you consider yourself a role model for young girls today??” asked another viewer.
