Christina Aguilera reveals a gay ex-boyfriend inspired her song 'Infatuation'
Turns out Christina Aguilera knows where to go for some good old-fashioned satisfying gossip about heartbreak.
After the “Beautiful” singer, made a surprise appearance on the Season 10 premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race, she settled down on the after-show Untucked — and revealed something that made the queens sit up and take notice.
When talk turned to her song “Infatuation,” from 2002’s Stripped, which details a Latin lover, the contestants were curious about the inspiration. Was it about an actual boyfriend?
Aguilera confirmed that was the case, then added, “It was heartbreaking because I found out he played for your team, not mine.”
“He’s gonna see this; he’s gonna be mad,” Drag Race star Vanessa Vanjie Mateo cautioned.
“I hope so, girl!” Aguilera replied.
The 37-year-old singer also discussed her song “Fighter” from the same album. “I’m reading the lyrics, and you read him for the back room,” contestant Monique Heart said.
Aguilera didn’t give any juicy revelations here but merely mused, “He deserved it, he deserved it.”
Aguilera — a longtime supporter of the LGBTQ community (her 2002 video for “Beautiful” earned a GLAAD Media Award for its positive portrayals of gay and transgender people) — additionally took time to get serious with the contestants, offering them some sage advice about how to pursue their careers as they welcomed her to the “Drag Race family.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race airs Thursdays at 8 p.m., followed by Untucked at 9:30 p.m., on VH1.
