Christina Hall's Ex Josh Hall Accuses Her of 'Scorched-Earth Divorce Tactics' After TV Deal Ends
Christina Hall’s divorce from Josh Hall hasn’t been pleasant from the get-go, but the court documents might be proving that her estranged husband isn’t thrilled that he was cut from HGTV’s The Flip Off. Josh was supposed to star alongside Christina, her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, and his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa.
Josh is accusing his ex of “scorched-earth divorce tactics,” by not only cutting him off financially but also from his “contractual agreement” for The Flip Off, according to the legal papers obtained by In Touch Weekly. The entire premise of the show was for two ex-spouses — Christina and Tarek — to square off on the home renovation with their new partners in life. The quad is now a trio, and it looks like Josh is going to fight that exclusion, especially since TMZ reported that the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement.

In Josh’s original court filing, he is asking for all rights for the HGTV and Discovery Network shows and specials that were produced during their three-year marriage — and he might have a case, according to family law attorney Aliette H. Carolan, Esq. who spoke to SheKnows in July. “In California, which follows community property laws, absent a prenup, marital assets are generally divided equally,” she explained. “This could possibly include rights to shows they created or participated in during the marriage.”
Although Carolan does not represent either party in the divorce case, she believes that “Josh will likely preserve his rights to the shows he participated in” which includes Christina on the Coast. “Christina would share in those rights, as well, just like he is likely to reap some financial benefit in connection to her rights and interests in the shows produced during the marriage,” she added.
That legal snag won’t be the only financial fight in the Hall versus Hall divorce. Josh is reportedly returning the $35,000 that he took from her rental properties account “less the amount I have paid in expenses,” per the court documents. He claimed he was the financial manager for those Nashville, Tenn. homes and he had the rental money transferred to his accounts so he could pay the bills after being cut off from Christina’s accounts on July 8.
The divorce is proving that there are many layers to the split and Christina probably wishes she had taken the time to draw up a prenuptial agreement before she walked down the aisle with Josh.
