Cillian Murphy returns as Tommy Shelby in first look at “Peaky Blinders ”movie
Production has officially begun in the U.K.
By order of the Peaky Blinders, Netflix has shared a first look at the Peaky Blinders movie featuring star Cillian Murphy, set to reprise his role as Tommy Shelby.
The leader of the Birmingham criminal gang is looking a lot more grayed, per a side profile. The streamer also shared a photo of Murphy on set with the show's creator Steven Knight, who penned the film script, as production officially begins in the U.K.

A continuation of the six-season BBC drama series, the film will also star Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, and Tim Roth. Not much else is known about the plot, except that it'll be set during World War II. Tom Harper, who directed episodes of the series, is also back to direct.

“I'm thrilled to see the cameras rolling on this new chapter of the Peaky Blinders story, set during World War II. The country is at war, and so, of course, are our Peaky Blinders," Knight shared in a release.
Added Harper, "There’s a great feeling of anticipation and excitement amongst our outstanding cast and crew. We’re grateful to the fans for getting us to this point and believe this next chapter is going to deliver something extraordinary."

The original British period crime drama followed the rise and fall of the fictional Shelby family circa 1900s England and also starred Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle, and Helen McCrory.
