Civil war breaks out in 'Far Cry 4' story trailer

If Far Cry 4‘s new trailer is any indication, be thankful you can never take a vacation to the fictional nation of Kyrat.

Embroiled in civil war, Kyrat is at war with itself as a faction of citizens attempt to take down the dictator Pagan Min (Troy Baker). The protagonist, Ajay Ghale, has traveled to his home country to fulfill his mother’s dying wish of spreading her ashes in Kyrat, but Pagan Min makes that a difficult task to complete.

All of the game’s promised mountain vistas, bloody warfare, and elephants are on display, as well as a bit of Troy Baker’s Pagan Min. Far Cry 3‘s main antagonist, Vaas, helped solidify the franchise’s penchant for absolutely insane villains. While Min is, at least at first glance, more physically reserved than Vaas, his insanity seeps out from the edges of his few scenes.

The peek at Kyrat’s civil war is also backed by an appropriately slowed down cover of “Born to Be Wild.” Far Cry 4‘s soundtrack may be one of its most unexpected surprises when the game releases on Nov. 18. In addition to the interesting cover on display here, Childish Gambino’s “Crawl” has been used in a previous trailer, and Drive and The Knick composer Cliff Martinez has recently signed on to create the game’s original soundtrack.
