Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy Are Selling Their Airy NYC Townhouse for $9.75M
New York-based power acting couple Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy are ready to say goodbye to a four-bedroom Greek Revival townhouse in the West Village that they’ve owned for more than a decade. The couple, who purchased the property in 2012, have listed it for sale for $9.75 million.
As first reported in The New York Times, the pair worked with Joan Krevlin, a founding partner of BKSK Architects, to open up and modernize the 1880s townhouse. “It’s been incredibly well-modernized, while still preserving its original West Village charm,” Corcoran Group’s Tamer Howard, the property’s listing agent, told the Times. Among the changes was moving the kitchen from the front of the townhouse to the back and overall giving the home a more loft-like vibe, especially on the ground floor, which features an open floor plan connecting the living room, dining room and kitchen (which boasts Miele appliances, electric blinds, heated flooring and a folding glass wall that opens to an outdoor terrace).

The residence also includes four and a half bathrooms, a custom-built home office, a den/media room, four fireplaces and three outdoor spaces. On the top floor is the primary suite, featuring custom closets and a primary bath with dual vanities, steam shower and a claw-foot tub.
Up on the rooftop is a terrace offering views of the cityscape including One World Trade Center, plus an outdoor kitchen with an Ooni Koda pizza oven and an ice maker. Down in the basement is a wine cellar and laundry room.
Howard told the NYT that Danes and Dancy are bidding adieu to the townhouse because they want more space for their three growing children. Dancy currently stars on NBC’s Law & Order, while Danes is set to reunite with Homeland creator Howard Gordon for a drama at Netflix.
