The Classic Air Jordan 4 Is Getting One of Its Biggest Change-Ups Yet

More from Footwear News

Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan 4 sneaker is one of the brand’s most popular Retro models in recent years and as a result, has seen its share of limited-edition collaborations and material makeovers. Falling into the latter category is an upcoming version of the shoe, which marks one of its biggest changes yet.

Said to be named the Air Jordan 4 “Net,” this upcoming version of the beloved model takes one of its signature elements and dials it up to the extreme.

Traditionally appearing only on the Air Jordan 4’s mid-panel cutouts and portions of the tongue, its plastic mesh netting has been amplified to cover a large portion of the upper, even creeping up beyond the top of the shoe. Below that, the rest of the Air Jordan 4 remains unchanged, retaining its usual mudguard and midsole.

To give the design some added flair, it comes adorned with gold pendants of Jordan Brand’s Jumpman logo and Jordan’s jersey number, 23. Based on the styling in these early looks, it appears that the keychain-like trinkets can be rearranged and placed wherever on the netting the wearer desires.

Changes to iconic models such as the Air Jordan 4 are sometimes met with resistance from fans, which is understandable given the sneaker’s significance. Jordan Brand has a past precedent of similar updates, having covered the Air Jordan 3 in its trademark elephant print for “Flip” colorways and releasing fully reflective versions of the Air Jordan 5, a detail usually only found on the shoe’s tongue.

Previewed here with a first look at the “White/Phantom/Metallic Gold” colorway, Air Jordan 4 “Net” is also expected to launch in black and rattan colorways come 2025.

This white-based colorway of the Air Jordan 4 “Net” is expected to be released on December 2 for a retail price of $210. It has a SKU of FN7251-107 and will be available exclusively in women’s sizing.
