Clint Eastwood and partner Christina Sandera attended final red carpet together years before her death at 61
Clint Eastwood is mourning the loss of his longtime love, Christina Sandera.
The two kept their 10-year relationship out of the public eye, with Sandera living a private life despite dating the A-list actor. Eastwood, 94, and Sandera walked their final red carpet together in 2019, nearly five years before her death at age 61.
The last public images of the pair were taken in November 2019 at AFI Fest in Hollywood, California. Sandera was not part of the entertainment industry but showed why she was Eastwood’s leading lady, beaming with pride at the film festival as she walked arm in arm with the legendary director.
The couple attended the premiere of the Eastwood-directed film, “Richard Jewell.” Sandera wore a sheer printed dress and sported a full head of gray hair for the rare outing.
Eastwood and his decade-long partner were seldom photographed together. The couple — who began their relationship in 2014 — appeared at a handful of events over the years, including the 2015 Academy Awards, when the actor was up for six Oscars.
Sandera was also by Eastwood’s side for the film premieres of “Sully” in 2016, “The Mule” in 2018 and “The 15:17 to Paris” that same year.
AFI Fest marked their last red carpet.
Sandera met the “American Sniper” star when she was a hostess at his Mission Ranch Hotel and Restaurant in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Her death was confirmed by the Hollywood Reporter.
Eastwood released a statement about her death on Thursday evening. “Christina was a lovely, caring woman, and I will miss her very much,” he said.
No other information was provided about her passing.
The couple never wed, but Eastwood said “I do” twice before their relationship. He married model Maggie Johnson in 1953, and they divorced in 1984. The actor tied the knot with his second wife, Dina Ruiz, in 1996. He met Sandera shortly after finalizing his second divorce in 2014.
Eastwood shares eight adult-age children with six different women, including daughters Laurie, Kimber, Alison, Kathryn, Francesca, and Morgan, as well as sons Kyle and Scott.
Sandera was reportedly welcomed with open arms by Eastwood’s kids. The blended family came together for his 90th birthday.
“We’re going to do just a family thing,” Scott told Access Hollywood in 2020. “Very calm, very mellow. He doesn’t like birthdays. He’s just sort of like, ‘I don’t want to do birthdays’ … We’ll sneak a cake in there, definitely. He probably won’t like it, but we’ll put one in.”
