S Club Pays Tribute to Late Member Paul Cattermole at Reunion Tour Opener: ‘You’ll Never Be Forgotten’

The British pop group began their 25th anniversary tour featuring five original members in Manchester, England on Thursday

S Club wants to remember the “Good Times” they had with their late bandmate Paul Cattermole.

The pop band kicked off their 25th anniversary tour in Manchester, England on Thursday and took a moment out of the show to honor Cattermole, who died unexpectedly at age 46 in April. Audience members captured footage of the emotional tribute to the late singer, who was originally scheduled to join them on the tour.

As seen in videos on social media, at one point during their set, S Club exited the stage while audio of Cattermole singing “Good Times” filled AO Arena and heartwarming, archival footage of him played.

When the British group — currently featuring Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, Jon Lee, Rachel Stevens and Tina Barrett — returned, they changed from colorful looks into all-black ensembles and began singing along to “Good Times.”

“That's our brother right there, man. Gone but you'll never be forgotten. We miss you every single day,” McIntosh, 42, told the crowd.

"You know what we've been through this last year," the performer continued. "It's been so tragic, it's been so sad. But we've got you guys, and we're here for you, and we could not have done it without you guys."

His bandmates also joined in to honor Cattermole. O'Meara, 44, added, “Thank you so much — all the messages and love and support you've all shown all of us and to Paul's family.”

O’Meara then invited the audience to hold up their hands in the shape of a heart in dedication to the late singer and stage actor.

Lee, 41, also informed the AO Arena crowd that S Club will be raising funds for the British Heart Foundation throughout their tour, as Cattermole died of several heart-related issues. “It's very special for us this evening obviously, we dedicate this performance to Paul and to the British Heart Foundation so thank you so much for being here,” he shared.

Stevens, 45, chimed in to express appreciation for the group's fans: "Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support, all the incredible messages you've sent through this time, and all your support always. We love you so much."

Barrett, 47, wrapped up the sweet moment by introducing the next song, their hit 1999 debut single, “Bring It All Back.” She said, “Thank you so much Manchester. Tonight is a celebration, so let's bring it all back for Paul."

The “Never Had a Dream Come True” band launched their string of U.K. live dates six months after Cattermole’s death, which was confirmed to be caused by natural causes related to the heart in June.

After just one show, the Y2K icons announced on their Instagram Story that their second tour date on Friday would be rescheduled — just hours before the concert. They shared, “We’re beyond devastated to announce that tonight’s show in Liverpool has had to be postponed by the venue, due to them having an unforeseen technical issue impacting their power supply and therefore your safety."

S Club apologized to fans and clarified that the performance would be rescheduled to Oct. 30, with refunds available for those unable to attend.

Upon Cattermole’s death, S Club released a statement on Instagram. "We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel," they wrote. "We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have."

The statement continued, "He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time."
