CMA Fest, Nashville's tourism boom, economic, social growth
Over five decades, CMA Fest — which began as a "Fan Fair" event that drew 5,000 fans to Nashville's Municipal Auditorium — has grown to an event 20 times larger, eventually outgrowing the Nashville Fairgrounds and now encompassing a massive five-block footprint of downtown Nashville.
In 2023, fans from all 50 states and 51 international countries brought $74.7 million to Music City during its four-day run.
"[CMA Fest] brought visitors from all over the world to Music City, helping bolster the city's economic activity," said Deana Ivey, president and CEO of the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp (NCVC).
CMA Fest's participants donate their time to perform, and a portion of ticket proceeds can directly benefit music programs nationwide through the CMA Foundation.
