Coachella 2020 lineup: Travis Scott, Frank Ocean and Rage Against the Machine headline

Travis Scott, Frank Ocean and Rage Against the Machine will headline the 2020 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the Goldenvoice promoters have announced.

The release of the festival's lineup ends a months-long guessing game as to who would be named the top acts at the two-weekend event April 10-12 and April 17-19 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

Rage Against the Machine is no surprise as the Friday headliner. In November, an industry source confirmed to The Desert Sun that the band would reunite for the festival after indicating on Instagram they would perform in Indio on April 10 and 17. Rage Against the Machine performed at the inaugural Coachella in 1999.

Scott, who performed at the festival in 2017, will headline Saturday.

Ocean, who has not performed on tour since 2017, will headline Sunday. The "Channel Orange" and "Blonde" artist performed at the festival in 2012.

Notable this year is the absence of a female headliner. It's the first year since 2016 without one as Lady Gaga (2017), Beyoncé (2018) and Ariana Grande (2019) have held one of the top three spots in recent years.

Lana Del Rey is the most well-known female act on the 2020 list. She is listed as the No. 2 act on Sunday, likely as the lead-in to Ocean.

One of the headliners in that 2016 event was Calvin Harris, who is back this year as what appears to be the lead-in act to Rage Against the Machine on Friday. It's a little unusual for a headliner to return in a non-headliner spot, but not unheard of.

Thom Yorke, who was a headliner himself as the lead man for Radiohead in 2017, is back without Radiohead. It looks like he is going to play his 2014 album, "Tomorrow's Modern Boxes." At least that's what it says in fine print next to his name on Saturday's list.

Lil Nas X, who burst onto the scene last year with his unavoidable "Old Town Road" is pulling a double dip. He is playing at Coachella on Sunday and then is also on the list for Stagecoach, the country music festival that follows Coachella at the same site. Talk about a cross-over success.

Other notable names to hit the stage in 2020 will be Run the Jewels, Lil Uzi Vert, DaBaby and FKA twigs.

As always, Coachella has an artist for all musical tastes. You can bop out to Carly Rae Jepsen on Saturday or kick it old-school with Fatboy Slim on Sunday.

The festival began tweeting Thursday evening for the first time since June before dropping the lineup. The first weekend is sold out, they said, but people can register for pre-sale passes for the second weekend.
