Cockatoo Performs 'Interpretive Dance' Like a Pro & People Can't Get Over His Rhythm
Furby is an expressive guy. The Cockatoo likes to talk, sing, and dance. He really loves to dance! The Cockatoo was recently caught doing his best "interpretive dance" for his owners. And the internet believes the parrot has some real talent.
Dancing is the way that Furby expresses himself. And he does a pretty good job of it, if you ask us.
Birds can be really communicative pets, and Furby is no different. The Cockatoo never has trouble sharing what's on his mind. In a video his owner shared, the Cockatoo must've been thinking about shaking his groove thing because he really got into the music.

With his feathers cocked, the Cockatoo swayed back and forth on his perch. He twisted to and fro as he moved. It sort of looked like he was doing body rolls too.
"Interpretive dance Furby," his owner joked in the video's caption.
The comments section loved Furby's performance. If they could, they'd give it two thumbs up. "Furby is so expressive with whatever he is feeling," wrote one person. "What a beautiful interpretive dance Furby," someone else added. "Furby put his heart and soul into that performance," another commenter praised. "Oh Furby. You are a great dancer. So talented," gushed someone else.
Why Do Parrots Dance to Music?
It's like we said, parrots are sort of known for their funky dance moves. But why do they like to boogie anyway? There are several reasons why parrots, like Cockatoos, like to dance. As you may have noticed, parrots are unique in the fact that they can perceive rhythm and then move their body to the beat.
Another reason why parrots dance is because they're social creatures. In the wild, they often use mimicry and coordinated movements to communicate with each other. Dancing is sort of like how they do these behaviors with humans.
Speaking of mimicry, parrots are really good at copying things. Usually that means sounds or even human noises, but that can also apply to human movement too. If they've ever seen you bust a move before, you can be sure they're taking note.
Parrots, like most creatures, like praise and positive reinforcement. So if they start dancing and receive positive attention for it, they'll be sure to try dancing again and again. They also like the mental stimulation that dancing provides. Parrots enjoy moving just as much as we do! So usually they're having a good time while they're bopping around.
Just take Furby — he was definitely living his best life.
