Colbert and Kimmel call for Sanders to be fired over doctored video
On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Colbert ripped into White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders for tweeting out a video that was clearly doctored. In the video, which was allegedly made by right wing conspiracy website Infowars, CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta appears to hit the arm of a young woman who tried to take his microphone away during a contentious press conference with Donald Trump. But the video had obviously been altered to make it look like Acosta’s actions had been more violent than they were. In the real video, it’s clear he did nothing of the sort. Sanders tweeted the altered video in defense of Acosta’s White House press pass being revoked, and Colbert believes she should be held accountable.

“The fact that the White House press secretary is promoting this doctored video is reprehensible and grounds for dismissal,” Colbert said. “Or as they call it in the Trump administration, Thursday.”
Colbert’s not the only one who feels Sanders should be fired. #FireSanders picked up steam Thursday on Twitter, and Colbert’s fellow late night host Jimmy Kimmel shared that view.
“She should be forced to resign for that,” Kimmel said. “I mean, she intentionally disseminated doctored video footage to discredit a reputable journalist. She’s the White House press secretary. She should be fired for that.”
Kimmel even had a suggestion for Sanders’s fate after being fired, saying that she should be “sent to live in a Jo-Ann’s fabric store for the rest of her days.”
