Colin Jost Jokes That Wife Scarlett Johansson Is ‘Jealous’ Over His Olympics Coverage
Colin Jost, Saturday Night Live’s preeminent Weekend Update anchor, is on-site for NBC Sports in Teahupo'o, Tahiti to watch the 2024 Olympic surfing competition, Surfer reported. Jost is a lifelong Olympics fan and a surfer himself, but he told the outlet that his exciting new commentating opportunity has led to some difficulties in his marriage to Scarlett Johansson.
“I mean, she won’t admit it, but she’s probably jealous,” Jost laughingly told Surfer. “No, but she’s very happy for me. She knows how much I love surfing, and how I do it every chance I can. She knows that this is, like, a life goal fulfillment for me. So, she’s supportive.”
Jost and Johansson have been married since 2020, and in 2021 welcomed their first child together. The two have done an enviable job of supporting one another’s careers over the years.
Johansson frequently turns up—in less-than-flattering fashion—on installments of Weekend Update in which Jost and co-host Michael Che goad each other into reading embarrassing jokes about their personal lives. Earlier this month, Jost popped in for a cameo appearance in Johansson's screwball space comedy Fly Me to the Moon, which is currently in cinemas.
With his “life goal fulfillment” of being an NBC Olympics correspondent, Jost feels his surfing saga has come full circle. “This is my first time in Tahiti. Being here, after seeing it for so long in videos, to actually be here and watching it, the power of it is crazy,” he said. “Even on a day like this, where it’s not huge, and it’s great conditions, you can just tell how much power there is. And then seeing these guys up close,” Jost marveled.
