Comedian Chris D'Elia accused of sexual harassment, 'predatory' behavior
Chris D’Elia is being accused of sexually harassing multiple women, including some underage girls.
The 40-year-old comedian, who appeared on Netflix’s show You and recently had his own special, No Pain, on the streaming service, was accused on social media of sexually harassing multiple women. There are accusations he tried to meet up with some of them for sex or asked for nude photos, as well as other “grooming” claims. His behavior was described by one accuser as “predatory.”
In a statement to TMZ, D’Elia said, “I know I have said and done things that might have offended people during my career, but I have never knowingly pursued any underage women at any point.”
He added, “All of my relationships have been both legal and consensual and I have never met or exchanged any inappropriate photos with the people who have tweeted about me.” And finished by saying, “That being said, I really am truly sorry. I was a dumb guy who ABSOLUTELY let myself get caught up in my lifestyle. That’s MY fault. I own it. I’ve been reflecting on this for some time now and I promise I will continue to do better.”
Yahoo Entertainment has reached out to D’Elia’s reps who have not immediately responded.
The accusations came about after a woman named Simoné Rossi wrote on Twitter that she “still can’t believe Netflix cast” D’Elia “as the pedophile” in Season 2 of You. (His character, Henderson, was killed off during the season.) “Like the literal irony.”
i still can’t believe netflix cast chris d’elia as the pedophile in season to of “you” like the literal IRONY

In the long thread, which quickly went viral, she went on to share screenshots of conversations — which began in 2014, when she says she was 16 — in which she claims the divorcee asked for nudes.

And, Rossi claimed, as the DMs continued into the next year, he was “grooming” her. However, she noted that she was “never physically [molested],” which she attributed to the fact that she started dating someone her own age around that time.
imagine being 16 and being groomed by a stand up comedian twice ur age and the only reason you never met up and never got physically m*lested was because u had just gotten a boyfriend ur own age pic.twitter.com/xq7XDrat8i

She said her feelings over what happened have changed over the years, leading to her speaking out.
for the longest time i thought it was embarrassing for ME that i was interacting with this older man but he was the one who DM’d me on twitter and was the one who was twice my age and was the one that used the power imbalance between us to his advantage so f*ck chris d’elia

for the longest time i thought this was just a funny story to tell at parties when i realized what happened isn’t normal and that he was and could still be doing this to younger girls and it’s my job to say something

She also claimed she was not the only one, which resulted in other allegations being made against D’Elia.
i am also definitely not the only underage girl he did this too. just an FYI.

Several other women shared stories about D’Elia contacting them when they were underage. The account @SheRatesDogs has been compiling them, including several from unidentified women.
Abby Grills publicly claimed D’Elias direct messaged her when she was 17, sharing screenshots of the conversation.
Alright y’all, I went back to my 2011 Facebook messenger and found the DMs from Chris D’Elia being creepy and persistent to me when I was 17 (more in thread) pic.twitter.com/mGr0IikcJT

Other women shared stories publicly as well, including Toronto comic & TV writer Olivia Stadler. She said she was 21 when they connected on Twitter and D’Elia asked her to hang out. She was excited to meet her role model, but prior to meeting, he changed the venue, trying to get her to come to his hotel room. She declined.
Comedian Emma Arnold was warned not to send him nudes because “he made them into memes” and showed them “to other male comics at shows.”
When I was a brand new comic, one of Delia's best friends warned me to never send Chris nudes bc he made them into memes and showed to other male comics at shows. Looks like some of those memes were probably of underage girls. No wonder I don't miss comedy yet. https://t.co/G8vTtEc3d3

Comedian/actress/writer Leah Knauer said D’Elia asked for nudes when she was 19. They did meet up and she described him as “predatory” and “scary.”
A spokesperson for Netflix — which is home to D’Elia’s recent special, No Pain, as well as the home of You and his upcoming film Army of the Dead — had no comment about the allegations.
