‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’: Jerry & Co. Tackle Everything From Cosby to Trans Issues in New Season
Seven seasons into his web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and Jerry Seinfeld still hasn’t run out of willing road trip companions. On the heels of a season that opened with President Obama and closed with Will Ferrell in the shotgun seat, the TV legend turned streaming star has booked such big-name guests as Trainwreck director, Judd Apatow, late night sensation John Oliver and Saturday Night Live Svengali, Lorne Michaels for his latest batch of episodes.
A just-released trailer for the new season, which premieres on Crackle on June 16, teases those guests, as well as appearances from Margaret Cho, J.B. Smoove and Jim Gaffigan, who Seinfeld seems intent on taking on a camping trip, pulling up in a lime-green VW camper. Oliver is far more impressed by his mode of transportation, a sleek sports vehicle. “That’s like the perfect British definition of a sports car,” the host of HBO’s Last Week Tonight notes. And amidst all the driving and coffee-drinking, don’t expect these comedians to shy away from provocative topics. Apatow brings up the Bill Cosby case, Seinfeld and Cho talk about transgender relationships, and Smoove wants to know a question we’ve probably all been contemplating: “What are the advancements in feet to ass technology?”
