More from Variety

“Following last season’s 18-month flash-forward showing Wes Genrettea’s proposal for the Pogues to find Blackbeard’s treasure, Season 4 takes us back in time to the lead-up of that moment. After finding the gold at El Dorado, the Pogues return to the OBX and commit to having a normal life. They’ve built themselves a new safe haven, officially dubbed Poguelandia 2.0, where they live together and run a fairly successful bait, tackle, and charter tour shop,” reads the show’s logline. “But after some financial setbacks, John B, Sarah, Kiara, JJ, Pope, and Cleo take Wes up on his offer, drawn back into the game for a whole new adventure. But before they know it, they’re well in over their heads, with dangerous new enemies hot on their heels racing them to the treasure. Meanwhile, their problems are only growing, and they’re forced to question their past, present, and future – who they really are, has it all been worth it, and how much are they willing to risk?”

The newest season of the Netflix hit will span 10 one-hour episodes. Creators Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke will continue serving as executive producers.

FIRST LOOKS/TRAILERS

Netflix is back with a second season of its survival competition series “Outlast,” and this time out, BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions has joined Aggregate Films in producing the series. “Outlast” returns on Sept. 4 with the first six episodes, followed by the final two on Sept. 11.

The show follows “16 lone wolf experts are dropped in the Alaskan wilderness and must outlast each other in a battle for a million dollar payout. There’s only one rule in this cut throat game: they must be part of a team to win.”

“We’ve been fortunate to produce hundreds of hours of programs in Alaska over the last 12 years and, along with our incredible producers in the field, and our partners at Aggregate and Netflix, our mission was to push the boundaries even further in the second season of this riveting series,” said Ryan O’Dowd, executive VP, entertainment & music for BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions and the BBC Studios EP for “Outlast.” “This season of Outlast delivers a compelling cast of survivalists who were dropped into an even more remote location, to endure even more brutal and punishing conditions, with more drama, action, and broken team alliances than ever before. With a life-changing million-dollar prize on the line, we set out to discover if, when pushed to their mental and physical breaking points, people would stay true to their morals, or if greed would ultimately prevail. And the results do not disappoint.”

Added executive producer Emma Ho from Aggregate Films: “Having produced the first season, we were thrilled to return and push the boundaries even further in Season 2. This time, we’re really testing the depths of human nature. The Alaskan wilderness remains as unforgiving as ever, but the players have changed. We pushed them to their absolute limits—physically, emotionally, and mentally—to see what they’re truly made of. The results are both compelling and revealing, showcasing the resilience and raw instincts of those brave enough to take on the challenge.”

“Outlast” comes from EPs Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan and Emma Ho for Aggregate Films, Ryan O’Dowd and Krystal Whitney for BBC Studios, Dan Bree and showrunner Mike Odair. Here’s a first look at Season 2:
