Comic-Con 2016: Paget Brewster, Aisha Tyler returning to 'Criminal Minds'

Paget Brewster and Aisha Tyler will both return to Criminal Minds in season 12, Kristen Vangsness announced during CBS’ fan-favorite panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday.

Brewster returns for multiple episodes as SSA Emily Prentiss, who will join the BAU when they need her most after the escape of 13 serial killers.

“We’re excited to have Paget Brewster back for multiple episodes in our 12th season,” said executive producer Erica Messer in a statement. “The BAU can use more help this year since they’ve got a lot of known and unknown subjects to catch.”

Brewster joined the show in season 2 and was a regular castmember through season 7. She returned for one episode in season 11 following the departure of Shemar Moore.

Details on Tyler’s return, where she’ll reprise her role as Dr. Tara Lewis, we’re not provided. She first joined the show in a recurring role in season 11.

Criminal Minds returns Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
