Outtakes Show Timothy Olyphant Refusing to Cooperate with Conan O’Brien
During a recent taping of Conan, the audience was let in on a little secret about the magic of television when host Conan O’Brien attempted to introduce a musical act that wasn’t actually there. Country singer Sturgill Simpson recorded his performance earlier in the day but would appear to be there at the same time as the other guests when the show aired.
Guests Timothy Olyphant and Jerrod Carmichael were determined to make it as hard as possible on O’Brien, and the host was gracious enough to share the outtakes.
Olyphant refused to go along with the charade as O’Brien explained the situation to the crowd, even chiming in when the show attempted to record the introduction of Simpson.
Despite making the whole process hard on O’Brien, the actor took the host’s side in the end, telling anyone who was upset about not getting to see some live country music, “You take your underwear and go home happy.” Because that makes perfect sense.
