Confess, Fletch Sequel With Jon Hamm No Longer Happening
Director Greg Mottola has officially confirmed that the planned sequel to the Jon Hamm-led 2022 movie Confess, Fletch is no longer in development at Miramax.
Why was the Confess, Fletch sequel canceled?
Mottola took to Twitter to reveal that the new head of Miramax, Jonathan Glickman, who was appointed as the studio’s new CEO last April, was reportedly the one who decided to scrap the Confess, Fletch sequel.
Alas, the new head of Miramax, who controls the rights to all the books, shot down my sequel project. The Fletch curse got me.

Confess, Fletch was directed by Mottola, who co-wrote the screenplay with Zev Borow, based on Gregory Mcdonalds’ 1976 novel of the same name. The film also starred Roy Wood Jr., Annie Mumolo, Ayden Mayeri, Lorenzo Izzo, John Slattery, Kyle MacLachlan, Marcia Gay Harden, Robert Picardo, John Behlmann, Lucy Punch, and more. Following its debut, the film received positive reviews from critics. It currently holds a Certified Fresh rating of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“In this delightful comedy romp, Jon Hamm stars as the roguishly charming and endlessly troublesome Fletch, who becomes the prime suspect in a murder case while searching for a stolen art collection,” reads the film’s synopsis. “The only way to prove his innocence? Find out which of the long list of suspects is the culprit—from the eccentric art dealer and a missing playboy to a crazy neighbor and Fletch’s Italian girlfriend. Crime, in fact, has never been this disorganized.”
