The Conjuring 4 has found its director, and the hit horror franchise has brought in a familiar face to helm the latest entry.

Safe Hands for The Conjuring 4 director

Michael Chaves, who directed the third film The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, has been negotiating to helm the fourth and seemingly final chapter, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It will mark the fourth time Chaves has been at the forefront of a film in the Conjuring Universe after he directed last year’s The Nun II and 2019’s The Curse of La Llorona.

While little is known about The Conjuring 4 plot, it will once again follow Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga’s Ed and Lorraine Warren as they encounter more paranormal terrors. Previous entries in the mainline series have tapped into the real-life cases followed by the actual Ed and Lorraine so that that trend may continue with the next one.

David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who co-wrote the third film alongside James Wan, returns with the screenplay for The Conjuring 4. Wan is producing alongside Peter Safran. Reportedly, filming is set to begin this summer in Atlanta.

The Conjuring series is the most successful horror franchise ever, with around $2.3 billion combined box office, putting it clear of the likes of the Milla Jovovich-starring Resident Evil series.
