Florence Pugh Confirmed She Has A New Boyfriend And Is Trying To Make “All The Right Decisions” After Opening Up About Her Controversial Relationship With Zach Braff
For a new cover interview with British Vogue, Florence Pugh got real about her romantic relationships, past and present.
As I’m sure you know, Florence has been in the public eye for many years, and her most high-profile relationship to date has been with fellow actor Zach Braff.
Zach and Florence dated for three years, between 2019 and 2022. Despite being fairly private with their relationship, they faced a lot of criticism over their 20-year age gap, prompting Florence to speak out on the subject more than once.
After initially keeping their 2022 breakup under wraps, Florence told Harper’s Bazaar that they chose to separate privately to avoid “having millions of people telling [them] how happy they are that [they’re] not together” anymore.
And now, more than two years later, Florence opened up about the difficulties of navigating her love life in the spotlight, telling Vogue she had no choice but to speak out when “people were bullying” her and Zach online.
“Mine and Zach’s relationship was actually quite private until it was nasty,” she told the outlet. “And I could see the toll that it was taking on him and us and our families. And that’s when I spoke out.”
Florence said it’s especially important to her to “protect” her partners, recalling: “It’s not nice knowing that people are saying the worst things I’ve ever read about someone that I love.”
“So that was necessary,” she added. “I needed to talk about it.”
Interestingly, Florence said that “any relationship” in the public eye is stressful to nurture — which led her to reveal that she is currently in the early stages of a new romance.
“OK, so something that I resonate with is that I believe that if magic is real, then it’s falling in love. And I am someone that loves falling in love,” she said.
“I love looking after people. I love caring for people. I love the feeling of someone being there,” she went on. “I love knowing that someone is thinking about me and someone cares for me in the same way that I’m thinking about caring for them.”
Florence did not reveal the identity of her new partner, although she did say they’re taking things slow and “figuring what [they] actually are.”
“I think in this portion of my life, I’m trying to make sure that I’m making all the right decisions so that I can have the thing that I want…which is safety, family, a home and security,” she said.
“And I think for the first time, I’m not allowing myself to go on a roller-coaster,” she continued. “I’m allowing myself to take time to let something evolve and let it be completely real to its core, as opposed to racing into that.”
Last year, Florence was linked with photographer Charlie Gooch, although they reportedly broke things off in October. Since splitting from Zach, she also denied rumors that she was dating her Midsommar costar Will Poulter after they were spotted together in May 2022.
Most recently, the Sun published reports that Florence is dating fellow Brit Finn Cole, who is best known for appearing in Peaky Blinders. Florence has not directly confirmed this, although she and Finn do interact on social media and were seen together in London earlier this month.
