Country Music Star Jelly Roll Delivers Emotional Performance at Emmys

The 76th annual Emmy awards air tonight, and while the event is all about celebrating the brightest talents in the television industry, the ceremony also had a memorable musical moment when Jelly Roll took the stage.

The show, hosted by father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy, included a special In Memoriam segment to honor people in the industry who died in the past year. This year, the Emmys paid tribute to Martin Mull, Dabney Coleman, Phil Donahue, Louis Gossett Jr., Ryan O'Neal, Gena Rowlands, Richard Simmons, Shannen Doherty, Carl Weathers, Richard Lewis, Donald Sutherland, James Earl Jones, Bob Newhart, and more.

Known for his powerful voice and emotional delivery, Jelly Roll rose to the occasion to accompany the emotional moment. The "Save Me" singer took a break from his tour to attend the show. He gave a powerful rendition of "I Am Not Okay" from his new album, Beautifully Broken, out October 11.

“I think that his decision of what particular song to do will touch everyone. I cry every time I hear it. Everyone at home, make sure you have tons of tissue around," said Rickey Minor, the show's music director.

He took the stage along with stringed instruments and said, "I believe that music is therapeutic. I believe that music can heal...If you are feeling lost and alone tonight, then I want to let you know that it's okay to not always be okay."

Before the performance, Jelly Roll shared his red carpet look with fans on Tik Tok. He wore all black, from boots to sports jacket and admitted it's a departure from his typical look. He called his attendance at the awards show "an honor," and told People, "I'm calling all my country music friends and telling them, 'We are missing the mark, dude, we gotta be at the Emmys.'"
