'The Craft' actress claims convention snubbed her because she's black
Actress Rachel True, who costarred in the 1996 cult favorite teen supernatural film The Craft, claims a convention refused to invite her to a reunion event and she believes racism is to blame.
True says her film’s other stars — Neve Campbell, Fairuza Balk, and Robin Tunney — were all invited, yet she was not. Moreover, she says this isn’t the first time she’s been left out of an event and that the convention has since replied that she’s definitely not invited now that she’s spoken out.
Starting last week, True posted on Twitter to share her experience with the upcoming convention, which was not named.
I think it’s interesting these conventions are booking Neve, Fairuza &, Robin all together, but excluding me. Sounds about white.

Kinda like the press junkets back in the day for the film. ˉ\_(ツ)_/ˉ

Maybe it’s just an oversight but…I mean.. it’s a film about 4 f*cking girls not 3.

Which is accurate: The film focuses on four friends who delve into witchcraft. True was even on the poster:
I’m not calling out any one convention in particular because it’s more than one & they don’t realize the casual racism to the choice. So if you attend those sorts of things let them know.. especially if you’re white, I guess.

Btw the lovely Fairuza Balk tipped me off to this all, because she’s cool AF. & scene.

This thread just made me rem the shitty feeling of watching the other 3 girls present that yr at the MTV movie awards while I sat in the audience despite having 2 movies coming out. These things aren’t the worst to suffer, but accumulated over the years are exhausting.

To any conventions whose names I have not mentioned once.. the other actors have been booked for a while..My team gave ample time for you to include me in ‘the craft’ reunions you’re pushing & people are paying for. How did you expect me to respond?

True then said that the convention firmly ruled out booking her because she complained publicly, posting a screenshot of a message that said: “We’re going to pass on Rachel, this was totally uncalled for.”
The actress also replied to a critic who accused her of being self-absorbed, saying, “This is not about self-absorption. It’s about racism, parity & [money] speaking up is costing me $ but may help younger folk coming up down the line achieve those things.”
