Those grabbing gold on Saturday night included longtime/former Wheel of Fortune front man Pat Sajak, The Traitors host Alan Cumming, Netflix’s Blue Eye Samurai (which bested X-Men ’97 and others in the Animated Series category) and Queens narrator Angela Bassett.
On Sunday night, The Bear‘s Jamie Lee Curtis and Jon Bernthal earned kudos, as did Mr. & Mrs. Smith‘s Michaela Coel and Shōgun‘s Nestor Carbonell.
All told, Shōgun — which led this year’s Emmy contenders with 25 total nominations — thus far has converted on 14 of those, already breaking the record for most Emmy wins by a single season of TV. (The HBO miniseries John Adams had held the record of 13 since 2008, while HBO’s Game of Thrones claimed the most for a drama, 12.)
Heading into the big show airing Sunday, Sept. 15 on ABC, The Bear alerady has picked up seven golden ladies, followed by NBC’s Saturday Night Live with five.
An edited presentation of the Creative Arts Emmys will be broadcast on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 8/7c on FXX. The main Emmys ceremony, hosted by Eugene and Dan Levy, airs Sunday, Sept. 15 at 8 pm on ABC.
