Creature Commandos Trailer Kicks Off the New DC Universe

DC Studios released the first teaser trailer for Creature Commandos at San Diego Comic-Con, giving fans a first look at James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC universe. While the DCU's official kick-off begins with next year's Superman, Creature Commandos will tell a standalone story starring returning characters from The  Suicide Squad and Peacemaker.

The Creature Commandos trailer shows Amanda Waller assembling a new team to replace Task Force X/Suicide Squad. Dubbed "Task Force M", the team includes a mix of eclectic characters to the DC Universe in an animated format.

The short teaser only gives us a glimpse at this new team's violent and brash nature, complete with James Gunn's signature sense of humor. The DC universe will employ the same actors across live-action, animation, and video games, several of whom will make the jump to live-action soon, starting with Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. in Superman. Of course, there are some exceptions like Sean Gunn, who voices two characters in the show and also plays Maxwell Lord in the live-action movies.

Here is the entire cast of Creature Commandos:

  • Amanda Waller - Viola Davis

  • Rick Flag Sr. - Frank Grillo

  • Economos - Steve Agee

  • Princess Ilana - Maria Bakalova

  • Circe - Anya Chalotra

  • Nina Mazursky - Zoe Chao

  • GI Robot - Sean Gunn

  • Weasel - Sean Gunn

  • Frankenstein - David Harbour

  • Dr. Phosphorus - Alan Tudyk

  • The Bride - Indira Varma

The trailer also reveals DC Studios' new logo is an updated version of the "DC bullet" logo that was used on the covers of DC comic books from the 1970s till 2005.

"We needed a logo that pays honor to our past, and signifies our future – ours, and yours," said Gunn while revealing the logo at SDCC. The new logo will be shown at the start of every upcoming DCU movie, show, and video game.
