Critics call out Billy Ray Cyrus's weed photo: 'Every single person in jail right now for smoking pot should be released'
Over the weekend, Miley Cyrus shared a photo from her wedding day, in which she jokingly holds up her bridal bouquet as if it’s a bong.

It seems that the apple didn’t fall far from the free. The pop star’s country crooner dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, also documented his own apparent appreciation for, ahem, going green on social media. The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer posted a photo of his wife, Miley’s mother, Tish Cyrus, showing off a considerable stash of marijuana.
Yes! Like I said yesterday @TishCyrus…. my how the times they are a changing #CrAzYMaMa

The picture has inspired jokes and several envious comments. But critics are also coming for the Cyruses. Some say the image glamorizes marijuana use and sets a bad example.
“No wonder why your children are so stupid to take drugs, because you are a stupid role model,” read one comment. “The police should put you and your family in prison.”
“No wonder why your kids are out of control,” agreed another commenter.
“I know Billy Ray confesses to be a Christian,” one fan added. “Billy Ray your family is so involved in worldly things. I’m praying God [leads] you back to him … I’m praying for y’all.”
Other critics objected that the photo demonstrated white privilege, arguing that the Cyruses could proudly show off a large haul of weed without repercussion, while countless others — including people of color — are incarcerated for drug crimes.
“Meanwhile minorities are being thrown into jail for this,” one critic fumed.
“It’s always ‘hip’ and ‘cool’ when white people do it, but when black people do it, it’s ghetto, encourages gang violence and is worthy of being jailed,” another pointed out.
“Cops have tracked down and arrested people of color for taking pictures like this but hardly waste any time doing the same to white folks,” added a commenter.

Think of all the people incarcerated right now on marijuana charges. And you wonder why so many people understand that criminal justice is often neither fair nor just. https://t.co/mKNpzxGEVk

Tish Cyrus waded into the comments to set the record straight: The weed isn’t actually hers.
“First of all … my husband @billyraycyrus is INSANE,” the posted. “Second, this picture is also insane, and third this is NOT my weed or my house. Hahah. But if it was, that would be amazing for so many reasons!”
That remark did little to appease those who felt the photo set a double standard.
“Well yeah ’cause you don’t have to spend your life in prison for it,” a critic responded. “Others had to suffer and die for you to enjoy this ‘freedom’ our ‘government’ decided to ‘give’ us. But you know, pose like a t*** by all that weed ’cause YOLO and all that crap, right?”
