Crowded House Announce Eighth Studio Album, ‘Gravity Stairs’
Don’t dream, Crowded House are far from over. In fact, the ARIA Hall Of Famers have just announced a brand new album on the way. Dubbed Gravity Stairs, the band’s eighth studio LP is set to reach our ears on Friday, 31st May.
Produced by the band themselves alongside Steven Schram (whose CV also boasts the likes of Paul Kelly and San Cisco), Gravity Stairs promises fans the fresh Crowded House lineup of Neil Finn, Nick Seymour, Mitchell Froom, and Finn’s sons Elroy and Liam, delivering the same quality songwriting that has seen them captivate audiences for going on four decades.
Crowded House – ‘Oh Hi’
The LP’s title was inspired by a heavy stone staircase located at one of Finn’s favourite vacation spots, which he likens to his mindset as a creator.
“It’s a metaphor for getting a little older and becoming aware of your own mortality, your own physicality,” Finn explains in a press statement. “Things are getting a little harder, and there’s more determination needed to get to the top, but there’s still the same compulsion to climb them.”
The big album news follows the release of an uplifting new Crowded House single dubbed ‘Oh Hi’, the music video for which has just landed today. You can take for a spin up above.
With a career spanning almost four decades, Crowded House have sold over 15 million records worldwide, earned 13 ARIA Awards (including a Hall Of Fame induction in 2016) and have generated billions of streams online.
And with a new album on the way, we’d hazard a guess fresh batch of Aussie tour dates aren’t too far behind.
We’ll keep you posted…
