'The Crown's Princess Diana, Emma Corrin, 'moved' by Prince Harry's comments on Netflix series
"The Crown" star Emma Corrin thinks it's "incredibly moving" Prince Harry watches and has commented about the show — especially considering she plays his famous mother.
Speaking in the virtual backstage to reporters at the Golden Globes after winning best actress in a drama for her performance as Princess Diana in the Netflix series, Corrin, 25, said it meant a lot to her that Harry spoke well of the show. But Corrin made it clear the royal series does not claim to be a fully accurate portrayal.
"It's difficult, with 'The Crown,' since it is so fictional, it feels so removed from the actual royal family," said Corrin. "But on the other hand, the characters are based on real people, so there is something there."
Speaking on James Corden's "The Late Late Show" earlier this week, Prince Harry said he watches the BBC-produced show, but has far bigger problems with the "toxic press" in the U.K.

"They don't pretend to be news," he said. "It's fictional, but it's loosely based on the truth. Of course it's not strictly accurate, but loosely, it gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle, what the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that."
Corrin said she saw the Corden interview: "I felt incredibly grateful to him. I was incredibly moved by what he said. Obviously I played his mother and that would have been such a sensitive thing. I was very moved he acknowledged it.
"I’m glad he enjoyed it, I was very grateful for those words," she said.
Gillian Anderson, who plays Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in "The Crown," agreed Prince Harry had a power viewpoint for the series.
"I would say that Harry is fairly well qualified to judge what is fact or fiction," said Anderson. "It was pleasing to hear he understood what ('Crown' creator Peter Morgan) was trying to do in ‘The Crown.’ He’s telling a nuanced story of the challenges of putting duty and service before love and family."
