Dame Helen Mirren owns James Corden in a savage rap battle
Dame Helen Mirren showed off her mad rap skills on The Late Late Show with James Corden when she took on the host in a rap battle. The Oscar winner may (or may not) be new to battle rapping, but Mirren proved she can hold her own.
Being the seasoned vet that he is, Corden kicked things off and went straight at Mirren, going after her for roles she has played and for her love life. He even compared her to fellow Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Dame Judi Dench.
Mirren hit back, poking fun at Corden for his weight, and accusing him of craving attention, and picking up Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon’s throwaways.
“Poor James Corden will never be satisfied / Until you find a way to get attention deep fried / But this battle is fun. I’m glad that you asked / It’s the only bit you didn’t find in Jimmy Fallon’s trash,” Mirren rapped to a raucous response from the crowd.
Mirren also hit back at Corden for comparing her to other women in Hollywood.
Mirren rapped, “Compare me to Meryl, Judi, Maggie, but why? / They’re not my competition; they’re my ride-or-die / See, women are a force to be reckoned with / And I reckon I wrecked you, you’ve been to hell and back, bitch.”
The Late Late Show with James Corden airs weeknights at 12:35 a.m. on CBS.
