Dana Carvey is revealing how he ended up playing a 100-year-old version of Jennifer Coolidge during a Saturday Night Live sketch last week.

The comedian, who has been portraying Joe Biden since season 50 of the NBC sketch comedy show kicked off last month, recently said on Superfly, the spinoff series of his and David Spade’s Fly on the Wall podcast, that he has to learn his impression of the beloved actress last minute.

“They threw it at me Thursday night,” Carvey, who was originally a castmember on SNL from 1986 to 1993, said. “They explained to me that the character was like a Snow White thing, that my Jennifer Coolidge had been trapped in the mirror for 100’s of years.”

The sketch titled “Maybelline” saw Chloe Fineman’s Jennifer Coolidge getting help putting on “Maybelline Super Stay Long Wear Liquid Lip Color” from the Jennifer Coolidge reflection in her mirror, played by host Ariana Grande. And then a third Coolidge (Carvey) was revealed in another mirror after Fineman asks, “Hey, I wonder what our lips look like from the side?”

“Thank God you opened the mirror,” Carvey said. “I’ve been trapped in here for years!”

On the podcast, the comedian described the skit as “kind of an acid-y, esoteric sketch.” He added, “I still don’t quite understand it, but that was fun.”

He also shared that due to timing, “they had to remove about four beats” between the dress rehearsal and the live show. “One was we eat corn. It was a lot wilder, it was amazing. It was a non sequitur like, ‘Hey. Wow. Let’s eat some corn,'” Carvey said in his Coolidge voice. “They suddenly have corn. ‘Can I have your corn?'”

Carvey also played a video (below) for Spade that his former SNL co-star Jon Lovitz filmed backstage of him rehearsing his lines for the Jennifer Coolidge sketch.
