Dana Carvey Does Trump, Clinton, Sanders Impressions
The impression master himself, Dana Carvey, stopped by Conan on Tuesday. He opened with his impression of presidential candidate Donald Trump. Carvey now hosts First Impressions, a competition show dedicated to finding the next great impressionist comedian. In the spirit of being a mentor to up-and-coming comedians, Carvey offered up secrets to doing impressions of the current presidential candidates.
For Donald Trump, Carvey said it’s all in the hands. He demonstrated that Trump either shuffles them side to side or moves them like a seal.
For Hillary Clinton, he imagined Bill Clinton helping her through a speech. He talked as Bill Clinton giving the advice of “Slow down, baby. They can’t all be applause lines, baby.”
Then Carvey took on Bernie Sanders, who he described as speaking in three or four word increments. Conan O'Brien added that Sanders’s jackets seem to ride up as he’s talking and that by the end of a speech they almost swallow his entire head.
Conan airs weeknights at 11 p.m. on TBS.
