‘Dancing with the Stars’ final slugfest of season 32: Did Xochitl Gomez deserve to win? [WATCH]
“I think she’s probably one of my favorite winners. She’ll definitely place in my top half if I were to do rankings,” says Gold Derby contributor Cordell Martin about Marvel actress Xochitl Gomez, who last week won the Len Goodman Mirror Ball Trophy for season 32 of “Dancing with the Stars.” He convened with fellow contributor Jeffrey Kare and Gold Derby editor Daniel Montgomery for one last discussion of this season’s competition. Watch above to hear their thoughts.
“I think the standings were almost perfect,” Montgomery argues. Gomez prevailed, followed by singer Jason Mraz in second, “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix in third, “Bachelorette” star Charity Lawson in fourth and “Buffy” and “How I Met Your Mother” actress Alyson Hannigan in fifth. “We don’t always get those kinds of good results. Sometimes the best dancer ends up third — Normani … So it was great to see [Gomez] win.”

“I agree, she’s definitely one of the best winners we’ve had in the competition, especially in recent years,” Kare adds. “I don’t know where I’d rank her among all the winners, but she’s at least in the top tier … and I really enjoyed this season as a whole overall.” Martin echoes that last sentiment as well: “This season definitely reminded me of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ at its peak just in terms of capturing that essence of the dances and letting the pros really choreograph amazing routines and getting the chance to really organically see the contestants stories and connect with them … So to the producers and casting, if you guys are watching this, keep doing what you’re doing for next season.”
