Dancing With the Stars Pro Arrested For Alleged Domestic Violence Against Former Celebrity Partner

Dancing With the Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev was arrested on Thursday morning, August 29th for alleged domestic violence, according to Variety. He was booked into Napa County Jail on a felony domestic violence charge, and bail was later posted at $25,000. No more details about what happened have been released, though Chigvintsev’s wife was reportedly also in Napa at the time.

Chigvintsev is married to WWE Nikki Garcia, who during her WWE days was known as Nikki Bella, one of the Bella Twins alongside sister Brie. Garcia, who famously went back to using her birth name after retiring from the WWE in an effort to embrace her roots, is currently the host of the game show Barmageddon. She is also set to co-host Netflix’s live competitive eating event, “Chestnut VS. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef,” on Monday, September 2nd. No announcement has been made in regards to that event as of yet.
The pro dancer and choreographer has competed in a total of 12 seasons of Dancing With the Stars, including the last four. He won the show in Season 29 alongside partner Kaitlyn Bristowe and finished in fourth place last season alongside former Bachelorette Charity Lawson.
According to Variety Chigvintsev was not expected to be part of the lineup for Season 33 of Dancing With the Stars, which is set to be announced on September 4 on Good Morning America. Witney Carson is the only pro confirmed to return to the show so far, with Olympic bronze medal winner Stephen Nedoroscik the only confirmed celebrity as of yet.

The couple met in 2017 when they were partnered in Season 25 of Dancing With the Stars and married in 2022. They have a son together, Matteo. A few days ago, both of them posted on Instagram celebrating their wedding anniversary, with Garcia quoting the lyrics to the song “Can’t Help Falling in Love” alongside a message that read “This song is our love story. I’ll never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem. How my feelings felt too soon. It all felt too fast. And then this song came on. And that’s when I knew that I was falling in love with him and that it was all meant to be.”
Neither Garcia nor Chigvintsev have released any statements about the arrest.
