The Season 33 premiere of “Dancing With the Stars” saw a slight uptick in ratings compared to last season as it welcomed a new slew of celebrities.

Tuesday’s debut scored 4.97 million viewers across ABC and Disney+, according to Nielsen live-plus-same-day figures. That’s up 4% when compared to the Season 32 premiere in September 2023, which drew in 4.78 million viewers.

“DWTS” was the most-watched program of the night across the broadcast networks in terms of both total viewership and viewership in the key broadcast demo among adults 18-49, which saw the premiere score a 0.73 rating.

Ratings-wise, the Season 33 premiere saw a 14% uptick among adults 18-49 compared to its Season 32 debut, which drew in a 0.64 rating, and also exceeded Season 32’s average rating of 0.61 rating by 19%. The Season 33 premiere marked the ballroom dancing show’s most-watched episode in the demo since last season’s Taylor Swift night on Nov. 21, 2023.

Season 33 welcomed a new group of celebrities to the competition series, including Bachelor Nation stars Joey Graziadei and Jenn Tran, as well as Olympians Stephen Nedoroscik and Ilona Maher. Additional cast members include Anna Delvey, Danny Amendola, Dwight Howard, Chandler Kinney, Brooks Nader, Phaedra Parks and Tori Spelling, among others.

While there weren’t any eliminations in the first episode, Kinney and pro partner Brandon Armstrong scored the highest score of the night for their tango to Chappell Roan’s “Hot to Go!” with a 23/30. Howard and Daniella Karagach’s salsa to “This Is How We Do It” came in second place with 22/30 while Graziadei and Jenna Johnson’s cha-cha to “Dancin’ in the Country” and Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold’s jive to “Don’t Stop Me Now” tied with 21/30.

“Dancing With the Stars” airs live on Tuesdays on ABC and streams on Disney+ in local time zones and the next day on Hulu.
