‘Dancing with the Stars’ season 33 wish list: 6 women we’d love to see [POLL]
With “Dancing with the Stars” set to come back for a 33rd season this fall, there’s a long list of celebrities who deserve to compete on the dance floor. Three of my past suggestions did ultimately become “DWTS” contestants: Frankie Muniz (who came in third in season 25), Kel Mitchell (who came in second in season 28), and Jamie Lynn Spears (who was the second to be eliminated last season). Below is a list of female celebs I think the show should consider inviting to the ballroom to vie for the next Mirror Ball Trophy. Do you agree with my picks? Check them out below, and vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know who you’d most like to see on “DWTS.” And feel free to let us know in the comments what other stars you would like to see when the show comes back in September.

Susan Boyle
More from GoldDerby
She rose to fame as the runner-up on “Britain’s Got Talent” back in 2009. Her audition — where she sang “I Dreamed a Dream” from “Les Misérables” — alone earned 10 million views when it first hit the internet. She’s since found great success as a recording artist. With that track record, Boyle should consider doing another reality competition show, only this time as a dancer.
Hilary Duff
This former teen idol made a name for herself as the title character on the Disney Channel comedy series “Lizzie McGuire.” She’s also delved into music, writing novels, and investing in businesses. Perhaps she should try her hand at ballroom dancing next? Disney kids have done well on the show before — Jordan Fisher won season 25 — and of course Disney is the parent company of ABC, which airs “DWTS,” so wouldn’t Duff make a worthy addition?
Jane Leeves
She’s best known for her roles on TV sitcoms especially Daphne Moon on “Frasier” and Joy Scroggs on “Hot in Cleveland.” Sitcom stars who’ve previously contended for the Mirror Ball trophy include the aforementioned Frankie Muniz, “The Office” actress Kate Flannery (season 28), and “One Day at a Time” star Justina Machado (season 29). Leeves also happens to have experience in singing and dancing from having played Sally Bowles in “Cabaret” on Broadway. With that background, coupled with her nostalgia factor, she would be an exciting addition to the competition.

Samantha Mumba
She shot to fame at age 17 with the release of her debut single “Gotta Tell You.” Recording artists who’ve previously contended for the Mirror Ball trophy include Mya (season 9 runner-up), Nicole Scherzinger (season 10 champ), Brandy (season 11), Normani Kordei (season 24), and Jason Mraz (season 32 runner-up). Mumba has also dabbled in modeling. Models have an inconsistent track record on the show, but “America’s Next Top Model” champ Nyle DiMarco did win the Mirror Ball Trophy in season 22.
Jenna Ushkowitz
Best known for her role as Tina Cohen-Chang on “Glee,” she could follow in the footsteps of her co-stars who previously competed for the Mirror Ball Trophy, Amber Riley (season 17 champ) and Heather Morris (season 24). Ushkowitz also has an extensive musical theatre background from having appeared on Broadway in “The King and I,” “Spring Awakening” and “Waitress.” Theater vets have a strong track record in the competition, including Mirror Ball champions Alfonso Ribeiro (season 19) and the aforementioned Jordan Fisher.
Serena Williams
Athletes in general have a strong track record in the ballroom. Yet when it comes to professional tennis players, neither Monica Seles (season six) nor Martina Navratilova (season 14) did particularly well. If another were to compete and do better, it should be one of the greatest tennis players of all time.
