David Arquette Had a Heart Attack Before Wrestling Return, Says Sister Patricia: It 'Scares Me'
Patricia Arquette isn’t thrilled about her brother David Arquette being back in the ring.
The Oscar-winning actress, 50, stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show where she opened up about her younger brother David, 47, and his return to wrestling. The actor was big into the sport in the early 2000s and was even WCW World Heavyweight Champion in 2000.
“Well, he was the world champion of wrestling many, many years ago, so this is a revival of his wrestling career,” she told host Ellen DeGeneres, adding that David supposedly had a heart attack a year and a half ago.
“So he started wrestling again, and it is scary. He’s older now, he had a heart attack, and now he’s wrestling,” she said. “It really scares me. I actually don’t watch the matches because it would terrify me too much.”

David took part in a so-called Death Match in mid-Nov. that left him scarred after a scary cut to the neck.
“I’m lucky to be alive,” David told PEOPLE at the time, just after leaving the hospital for an infection stemming from a deep cut in his neck. “If I had been cut in the jugular, I probably wouldn’t be here right now.”
The actor was in the middle of a match with wrestler Nick Gage when he went into self-described “defense mode.”
“Sometimes they use those florescent light tubes and I got cut and started seeing dripping blood and I panicked. I turned around too quickly and the end of a broken bulb got me in my neck. It was gruesome,” David said.

“Eighteen years ago, I won a WCW World Heavyweight Belt,” said David. “But that win was a big disgrace to the belt and the wrestling community and ever since people have been criticizing me. I really wanted to prove myself and stand up for myself. I was sick of being bullied and for people thinking I’m just some punk from Hollywood.”
So, the father of three began training with Peter Avalon and lost over 50 pounds with diet and exercise.
“I’m really lucky,” David admitted. “But I love wrestling and I will do it again. But I will never do another Death Match.”
