David Cassidy Remembered by Brother Patrick on What Would've Been His 74th Birthday: 'Miss You Every Day'
The 'Partridge Family' star died in 2017 from organ failure
David Cassidy is being remembered by his brother Patrick Cassidy.
The actor and producer, 62, shared a series of photos on Instagram on April 14, remembering David on what would've been his 74th birthday.
"I miss you every day…" Patrick wrote in his caption, sharing two photos of himself and his late brother smiling for the camera. "Happy birthday, my dear brother I love you …????."
David died on Nov. 21, 2017, from organ failure in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at age 67. The actor had been in intensive care since he was hospitalized for liver and kidney failure the week before his death.
The Partridge Family star's death came almost one year after he revealed to PEOPLE he’d been suffering from dementia in one of his final long-form interviews.
In February 2017, David announced that he would retire after performing a few, final concerts – ending a nearly 50-year career. At the time, the musician and actor said he was stepping back from touring as a musician to “enjoy life” and “love.”
In a Facebook message to his fans, Cassidy wrote at the time, “I will always be eternally grateful for the love and support you’ve shown me.”

According to a source close to the Cassidy family at the time of David's death, Patrick, his other brother Shaun, son Beau, daughter Katie, and ex-wife Sue Shifrin all dropped everything to spend time with him before he died.
“No one made me laugh like David,” Patrick told PEOPLE after his brother's death. “We spent our final days together just laughing. David told me, ‘You’re so damn handsome!’ and I replied, ‘I’m just taller.’”
Around the time of David's death, Patrick also spoke with the Palm Beach Post about his regional Florida production of She Loves Me (the brothers' father, Jack Cassidy, starred in the original production of the Broadway musical). Patrick was asked to do the musical just as David became sick, and the show provided a way for them to reconnect before he died.
"As fragile as he was, it’s been a remarkable reunion, with my whole family. I can thank [the theater] and She Loves Me for that," Patrick said of their reunion at the time.

"... I teach at colleges, and if the younger performers in this show don’t know who David or Shaun are, I explain it like this," Patrick added, reflecting on his brothers' careers. "I say, 'My brother David, from 1970 to 1974, was The Beatles. There was no bigger star on the planet."
Other members of the Cassidy family spoke out in the weeks after David's death. The actor's daughter Katie shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) honoring the late star and revealing his last words.

His son Beau also chimed in at the time, telling PEOPLE: "I’m so grateful that I was able to hold and love the best friend I’ll ever have in his last moments."
