David Cross Unveils First Podcast ‘Senses Working Overtime,’ Sets Premiere Date
EXCLUSIVE: Comedic multi-hyphenate David Cross on Tuesday unveiled Senses Working Overtime With David Cross, his first-ever podcast, which is set to debut on all audio platforms, and on the actor and comedian’s YouTube page, on December 7. Check out the trailer above.
The pod began as a vehicle for Cross and his guests to explore the Best/Worst/Funniest/Saddest/Most Beautiful etc. things they’d ever Seen, Touched, Tasted, Smelled, and Heard. Somewhere along the way it became a loose premise, a jumping off point to learn more about a variety of fascinating people, where Cross could let conversations steer themselves.

Confirmed guests include Bob Odenkirk, Marc Maron, Janeane Garofalo, John Hodgman, Jo Firestone, Eugene Mirman, Steve-O, Amber Tamblyn, and Jason Bateman. New episodes of the podcast will roll out on Thursdays. Produced by Headgum Studios, it’s part of the Headgum Podcast Network and is handling ad sales through the Headgum-owned marketplace Gumball.
“I kinda went into this a bit reluctantly thinking, ‘who’s gonna wanna listen to or watch yet another podcast?,'” admitted Cross in a statement to Deadline. “But I am really enjoying it! It’s been a lot of fun with a lot of laughs with some great old friends and some good new ones. I hope I make your car/bus/subway/plane/train ride more tolerable.”
An Emmy winner and two-time Grammy nominee, Cross just yesterday rolled out his latest comedy special, David Cross: Worst Daddy In The World, on the streaming platform Veeps. Prior to this new hour, shot during his 2023 theatre tour across 66 cities in North America, Ireland and the U.K., he released such well-known specials and albums as I’m from the Future, Oh, Come On, Making America Great Again, Bigger and Blackerer, It’s Not Funny, Shut Up You Fucking Baby!, and The Pride Is Back.
On the acting front, Cross is best known for his turn as Arrested Development‘s Tobias Fünke, and for his acclaimed HBO sketch series Mr. Show, co-created with and co-starring Better Call Saul‘s Odenkirk. More recently, he’s been seen on shows like Justified: City Primeval, Station Eleven, and Genius: Aretha, as well as in films like A24’s You Hurt My Feelings.
Next year, Cross comes aboard Netflix’s popular comic book series The Umbrella Academy for its fourth and final season. He is repped by UTA, Vector Management and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
