David Duchovny is in a New York state of mind.

On Saturday, Sept. 7, the X Files actor, 64, stepped out in New York City with Monique Pendleberry. Duchovny was dressed casually in an open button-down shirt, a black T-shirt with a skull graphic and jeans. His glasses hung from the collar of his shirt, and he sported white Adidas sneakers.

Pendleberry, 31, wore a black top and a blazer paired with jeans and black booties.

The couple is rarely seen out together. They previously attended a Los Angeles Lakers game against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Crypto.com Arena in January. They also hit the red carpet together at the January 2023 premiere of Duchovny's Netflix movie You People, and at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival.

The pair reportedly began dating in 2017. Duchovny was previously married to actress Téa Leoni, with whom he shares two children, daughter West and son Kyd.

Duchovny and Leoni, 58, were married from 1997 to 2014, having separated in 2008. She started dating her Madame Secretary costar Tim Daly in 2014 and the two have been together since.

Duchovny spoke to PEOPLE in June 2024 about how he will always feel that he was "inadequate" as a parent, as he reflected on how he was constantly working when his children were growing up.

“Maybe I was a good parent, because my kids are great people, and they probably want to think of me as a good parent, too. They don't want to think of me as a failure. I'm sure I've done bad things, I'm sure I've made mistakes, but we all have. So, I try and give myself more of a break" he said.

However, he is proud of how he was able to balance both his career and raising his children. “I was certainly working a lot when my kids were young," he told PEOPLE.

"That's something I might have changed, but then again, it's also cool to model a person who's engaged with their life for a kid," he continued. "It might not be the best thing to just devote your entire existence to your kid either, so it could go either way."

Duchovny added: "I don't have access to the other road that could have been traveled. I just have the one that I did travel, so certainly not a perfect parent, but I love my kids. I love my kids so, so much.”
