David Hasselhoff found love again with his wife, former model Hayley Roberts.

Despite their 28-year age gap, the two have always spoke on social media and in interviews about how happy they are. Hasselhoff has even talked about how great he feels, both mentally and physically in their marriage.

In a 2022 interview, after celebrating his birthday, he told PEOPLE, “At 70, life is just beginning for me. Seventy is about enjoying life as a person ... I’m reborn.”

A few years prior, Hasselhoff spoke to PEOPLE about his life and career and raved that their relationship was “so easy and great.”

“To have somebody there to support me who isn’t in the industry, and who tells me the truth – she tells me the truth,” he said. “Because the people in this industry a lot of times don’t tell you the truth, and that’s what gets you in trouble.”

So who is David Hasselhoff's wife? Here is everything there is to know about Hayley Roberts and her relationship with the actor.

She’s from Wales

Roberts grew up in Cardiff, Wales, in Great Britain, and was a shop assistant before she started dating Hasselhoff, per the Daily Record. When they met in 2011, she was living with her family in Glynneath, near Swansea, Wales.

She approached him

At the time, Hasselhoff was starring as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and was filming auditions for the TV show. Roberts first approached him in a hotel lobby, and asked for an autograph. Hasselhoff agreed as long as she would give him her phone number. She did, and the rest is history.

She didn’t believe his proposal at first

The couple got engaged in 2016 during a romantic picnic on the beach in Malibu, California. After the proposal, Roberts told Hello! that they “were both in tears,” saying, “I genuinely had no idea he was going to do that.”

She went on to say that, at first, she thought he was “just joking around” about getting married.

“He’s asked me before, but it was never for real,” she continued. “Then he pulled out the ring. I cried so hard that he didn’t get around to actually asking, ‘Will you marry me?’ until about 10 minutes later.”

“I’ve asked her to marry me before but those times were for fun,” Hasselhoff added. “This time, it was special and from my heart.”

He went on to explain why he popped the question, explaining, “I had a saying, ‘You don’t get married because you want to live with someone, you get married because you can’t live without them.’ I felt that way. I knew that I was really unhappy without her. I waited to propose because I thought I was too old for her.”

They got married in 2018 

About two years after getting engaged, Hasselhoff and Roberts got married in 2018 in Italy. They had a small ceremony in Puglia with family members and close friends.

When Hasselhoff met Roberts, he was already a father to his two daughters Taylor and Hayley, whom he welcomed with his ex-wife Pamela Bach. Both Taylor and Hayley attended their dad's wedding to Roberts.

On their one-year anniversary in July 2019, Roberts posted a photo of the two of them on Instagram from their wedding day.

“It was our wedding but it was the best wedding we have been to," she captioned the post. “I chose the perfect man to be my husband so kind, thoughtful with a huge heart and one of the nicest people I know. I am so lucky and still in love with this man.”

She’s family-oriented 

Roberts regularly posts photos and videos of her parents, nieces, nephews and siblings, with heartfelt messages.

In one Instagram post featuring a photo of herself and her dad walking down the aisle at her wedding, Roberts wrote, “I was lucky enough to have gotten brought up in the most amazing family.”

She added, “Seriously I wouldn’t change a thing about my life, growing up with my mum, dad, brother, and two sisters always made fun out of every boring situation.”

She loves to travel 

Aside from pictures of her family and Hasselhoff, Roberts’ Instagram is also full of photos from various countries all around the world. One Instagram post from October 2022 shows Roberts dipping her toes in the water in Croatia, while another post from June 2022 shows her sunbathing in a blue bikini in Monaco.

They are 28 years apart

In an interview with Hello! where the couple announced their engagement, Hasselhoff admitted that their age difference was one thing that had been holding him back from marrying her, but she didn’t feel the same way.

“I don’t worry about it,” Roberts said. “I don’t want to miss out on being with someone I love because of what might happen down the line.”

In another interview with OK! magazine via The Sun, Roberts said that she barely even notices the 28 year age gap. “David acts so much younger, he doesn’t see his age,” she said. “I’m probably older than my years. I don’t feel like he’s that much older than me.”

She has his daughters’ approval

When the two got engaged, Hasselhoff told Hello! that his daughters were happy for him.

“I told my girls what I was going to do and they were both really supportive,” he said. “It’s tough. No one wants to see their parents split up. But they love Hayley and they’re just happy for me.”
