Other sales titles headed to Toronto as part of the Industry Selects program include Allan Ungar’s London Calling, where the director reteams with Josh Duhamel for an action comedy; Mehdi Idir’s Monsieur Aznavour from Playtime Group; Korean director Kim So-jin’s Noise; and Rich Flu, directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia and starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Timothy Spall and Lorraine Bracco.
Rounding out the Industry Selects lineup is Sergio Navarretta’s dark comedy Yuppie, starring Lauren Holly and Brennan Clost; Nik Sexton’s Skeet; and Pia Marais’ Transamazonia. Industry Selects, launched at TIFF in 2002, has sales agents shopping films to select distributors and studio and streamer execs invited to a private market screening in Toronto.
Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers first screened in Toronto as part of the Industry Selects sidebar before Focus Features paid $30 million for the acquisitions title out of the Canadian festival. The latest Industry Selects lineup also comes ahead of TIFF getting set to launch an official content market with films, TV series and other projects up for grabs, at the 2025 edition next year.
The Toronto Film Festival’s 49th edition is set to run from Sept. 5 to 15.
